Abhishek Nigam speaks up about replacing Sheezan Khan in ‘Ali Baba’

After Tunisha Sharma passed away, actor Abhishek Nigam took Sheezan Khan’s place in the SAB TV serial ‘Ali Baba Dastaan-E-Kabul.’ Following the passing of his co-star Tunisha, who was also his girlfriend, Sheezan is still being held in detention by the law. He was detained last year on suspicion of aiding suicide. Speaking on taking on Sheezan’s role, Abhishek admitted that although he had some reservations about the casting offer, he couldn’t come up with a compelling argument to reject it.

The filming was suspended for a while after Tunisha Sharma was discovered dead on the show’s sets. After changing the name of the programme from ‘Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul’ to ‘Ali Baba: Ek Andaaz Andekha Chapter 2,’ it returned last month. Sayantani Ghosh also appears in the programme.

Abhishek stated that there were, “of course, apprehensions” regarding the show’s offer. Even if it is a routine position, one weighs the benefits and drawbacks of the offer. I asked for everyone’s opinions and discovered that I had no justification for rejecting the offer. Despite the tragic circumstances, we put a lot of love and effort into producing our concert. “Bahut logon ki kadi mehnat hoti hai, Iske peeche ek insaan ka haath nahi hota (A lot of people have put in there hard work). I continued to feel that way. The lead couple from before did a fantastic job. I made the decision to play this character after realising that I would have to work extremely hard at it. I’m confident that our perseverance will be rewarded.”

Regardless of the replacement’s nature, comparisons are common and unavoidable. “It takes the audience a while to get used to a new face. But if you work hard and give the character your all, you’ll connect with the audience. Our intention has been to give the programme a new perspective. My character is distinct from the previous one, even if the primary emotion has been kept.” When asked if he was concerned about being compared to Sheezan, Abhishek remarked, “It is more vibrant and quirky.”

Days before she passed away, Tunisha and Sheezan allegedly ended their relationship. On December 24, Tunisha’s suicide note was discovered. Sheezan was remanded in custody by the Vasai court last month for a period of 14 days.
