Today is veteran actor Sreenivasan’s 67th birthday! Sreenivasan began his career as a scriptwriter in the 1980s and went on to become a well-known actor and writer, contributing his skills to several hit movies. Numerous honours, including the National Film Award for Best Screenplay and the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor, have been given to him in recognition of his services to the film industry.

To celebrate, let’s look at some of his best and most notable Malayalam film performances:

Nadodikkattu: Mohanlal and Sreenivasan play the main characters in Sathyan Anthikad’s direction, which was released in 1987. One of Sreenivasan’s most recognisably memorable roles is considered to be his portrayal of Dasan. Dasan is presented as an innocent, naive kid who is frequently confused by his surroundings. His speech and comic timing have received tremendous compliments.

Vadakkunokkiyanthram: Sreenivasan’s characterization of ‘Thalathil Dineshan’ is praised for its humorous timing and capacity to express the character’s nuanced emotions. The movie, which Sreenivasan wrote and directed, is largely recognised as one of the greatest produced in the Malayalam cinema industry.

Udayananu Tharam: Sarcastic comedy directed by Rosshan Andrews, has Mohanlal, Sreenivasan, and Meena as the key characters. Sreenivasan portrays Rajappan, a poor actor who borrows his friend Udayabhanu’s (Mohanlal) script in order to break into the movie business and become known as ‘Superstar Saroj Kumar.’ The intricate details of their friendship are examined, as well as how one’s success impacts the other. Both the public and the reviewers praised the movie’s funny language and settings.

Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala: Sreenivasan and Thilakan were the main characters in this 1998 black comedy movie, which Sreenivasan also wrote and directed. The protagonist of the film is an irresponsible husband who neglects his family. The movie was named Best Film on Other Social Issues by the National Film Board.

Katha Parayumbol: Sreenivasan plays the role of Barber Balan, a soft-spoken yet funny guy who struggles to provide for his family. This comedy-drama was released in 2007. The narrative centres around Balan’s former relationship with a now-superstar character, who is portrayed by Mammootty. Both the public and the reviewers praised Sreenivasan’s portrayal of Balan for his outstanding performance, which left an unforgettable impression on the viewers.
