Anushka Sharma is concerned as she shares a new video about a sportswear brand, she previously chastised. She listed all of her complaints about the brand, including its name.
On Monday, Anushka Sharma criticized sportswear brand Puma for using her images ‘without permission’. Following the brand’s response, the actor took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a video of herself discussing the brand’s ‘proposal’ after she told them to remove her photos because she was not their brand ambassador. Social media users were quick to point out that all this was a promotional gimmick used by the brand to create online buzz; while some called it ‘lame’, others said the strategy was ‘on point’.
The video shows Anushka getting her hair and makeup done while sitting in front of a mirror in a vanity room. In between sharing her thoughts on working with the brand, she was seen looking at her hairstylist and makeup artist. In the caption of her Instagram Reels, Anushka wrote, “Considering @pumaindia’s proposal… “What do you think?”
“Wait, will I have to wear a sports bra all day?” the actor said in the video. It’s like being assigned to the same job as Virat. Ab bolenge ‘har jaga logo dikhna chahiya (they will now say the logo should be visible everywhere)’.” Anushka made a face and said, “Very self-obsessed,” when asked about the alleged deal with the brand. Uh, are these guys going to force me to befriend that creepy cat (pictured on the brand’s logo) now? Literally found that thing in our bathroom one day. I’m using my soap. Cats aren’t even allowed to bathe!”
Anushka was then overheard discussing the brand’s name. She said, “Why did not they name it Cheetah? Isn’t that the fastest?” “My clothes are going to be covered in cat hair all day… they own my family now?” she added. Reacting to her video, a user wrote in the comments section, “Sab promotion strategy tha (it was all a promotional strategy).” “Marketing on point,” said another.
On Monday, Puma India took to their official Instagram handle and posted a picture of what appeared to be a contract. The image mentions ‘Puma x Anushka’ with ‘confidential’ written on it. Along with the photo, the brand wrote in the caption, “Hey @anushkasharma, we should’ve reached out sooner! Should we take things to the next level, then?” Anushka then took to Instagram Stories to share the news, writing, “I’ll sleep on it.”
Earlier that day, on Monday, the actor reposted a photo shared by the brand to promote its sale, writing, “Hey, @PumaIndia? I’m sure you’re aware that you must obtain permission before using my imagery for publicity purposes because I am not your ambassador.” The actor also requested that the brand remove the post, writing, “Please take it down,” with angry face emojis. It was also shared by Virat Kohli’s husband, who wrote, “Please sort this out, Puma India.” Virat is also a supporter of Puma India.
