AR Rahman with Mani Ratnam at London, working on music for PS2

AR Rahman, the Oscar-winning composer, is currently in London working on the background score for the upcoming Tamil magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2. He took to Twitter to share a photo of himself and Mani Ratnam outside the recording studio. AR Rahman revealed that work is currently underway at Abbey Road Studios.

AR Rahman captioned the picture, “PS2 in London.” He also included the hashtags Matt Dunkley and Mani Rathnam. Several fans commented on the photo, saying it’s amazing how Rahman can work without rest.

It’s worth noting that AR Rahman performed live at the audio launch of the upcoming Tamil film ‘Pathu Thala’ last Saturday night. Rahman composed the music for the film, which stars Silambarasan T.R.

Ponniyin Selvan 2, directed by Mani Ratnam, is set to be released on April 28. On Monday, the film’s team released the first single from the film. It’s a duet starring Karthi and Trisha. The film is the second installment in the franchise.

The first part tells the story of Arulmozhivarman (Ponniyin Selvan), the Chola emperor Rajaraja I’s early life (947–1014). The film stars Jayam Ravi as Arulmozhivarman, with Vikram, Karthi, Trisha, and Aishwarya Rai in supporting roles. It was released in theaters last year.

Ponniyin Selvan 1 surpassed the 500 crore club at the box office, becoming the second Tamil film to do so after Rajinikanth’s 2.0. It surpassed SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 as the highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu, grossing over 230 crore.
