Arjun Tendulkar made his long-awaited IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians

Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, made his long-awaited debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) yesterday for the Mumbai Indians against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Arjun was given his cap by skipper Rohit Sharma, and to the joy of the spectators, the left-arm bowler was given the new ball and bowled a couple of overs right away. Despite failing to take a wicket, Arjun generated some early swing and almost had N Jagadeesan LBW, only for the ball to miss the stumps on height. His stint appeared to be faultless until Venkatesh Iyer smashed a six and a four to close his second over.

All the while, his father, Sachin Tendulkar, who also serves as MI’s mentor, was watching the action from the dressing room, and his sister, Sara Tendulkar, was cheering on her younger brother from the stands.

Arjun did not play any further roles with the ball, and he did not get to bat with MI down by five wickets. Following the game, Sachin took to Twitter to deliver an emotional message for his kid. He stated that his son has taken a significant step in his cricketing career and is optimistic that Arjun will respect the game as much as he did during his 24-year stellar career.

“Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer. As your father, someone who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves, and the game will love you back. You have worked very hard to reach here, and I am sure you will continue to do so. This is the start of a beautiful journey. All the best!” Sachin wrote in his tweet.
