Coke Studio India launched its Tamil edition and released a promo. Coke Studio was launched in India in 2011.
Coke studio has been dominant for several years. The Tamil edition of Coke studio could be seen as a precursor to other regional editions. “The recent Coke Studio India was dormant was that we basically did not do anything over the last 8 years- we probably did not have the right strategy. We did not have the right alignment within our teams, with our bottlers. But I think over the last 18 months and the success of Coke studio Bangla has given us the confidence that we can relaunch the property. We just feel that there are going to be some interesting changes in the way we market Coke Studio in India and Tamil is one of the first pieces of that puzzle. Over the next 2to3 years we are going to have more franchises coming in”, said Arnab Roy, Vice President Marketing Coca-Cola India and South-west Asia.
This could be considered as an attempt to promote regional artists. The Tamil edition would be produced by Tamil hip-hop star Arivu, and music composer Sean Roldal along with several other artists including Pushpa Vanam Kuppusamy, Gaana Ulaganathan, Sanjay Subramanian, Chinmay Sripada, Benny Dayal, Jhanu and the Band OfRo and Khatija Rahman.
Singer Chinmay Sripada confirmed that she is a part of the Tamil edition of Coke studio through her social media handles.
The Tamil edition would feature original music while also revisits old Tamil songs. Coke Studio season 1 will premiere on You Tube channel of Coke Studio, and the officials are yet to confirm the date.
