Does drinking Water actually help your skin?

Water is essential to all body functions, from regulating your internal temperature to lubricating joints. Our body uses water to sweat, urinate, and have bowel movements. It is said that drinking water is very helpful in maintaining clear skin. But does it actually work?

Generally, adults should drink between 5 to 8 glasses of water every day, and even more if needed. It is said that water helps cure your skin. Water supposedly tightens your skin, thus avoiding skin sagging, maintaining a good pH balance, flushing out toxins in your body, reducing wrinkles, preventing pimples and acne, and moisturizing to maintain the elasticity of the skin.

But experts believe that this is a myth, and they don’t buy it. They say that water isn’t going to help get rid of wrinkles or plump up your skin unless you are extremely dehydrated. Researchers found that in individuals with low daily water consumption, increasing water intake had a positive effect on skin appearance and helped maintain skin hydration levels. But, if you’re already well hydrated, drinking to a point beyond a balanced level of hydration may not have any additional impact. They sure agree that you need water to stay healthy, but they don’t guarantee any miracles by just drinking water.

So, even though drinking water helps in the proper functioning of our body, it falls short when it comes to giving you a clear skin. But with proper diet and a proper skincare routine with suitable products, you could certainly achieve the skin you want.
