Kangana Ranaut recalls an acid attack on her sister Rangoli Chandel, after an acid attack occurred in Delhi’s Dwarka

Kangana Ranaut reacted to an acid attack in Delhi by sharing her own experience after her sister was attacked in the same way years ago.

Kangana Ranaut has spoken out about her sister Rangoli Chandel’s trauma and how she herself was terrified after an acid attack by men in Delhi’s Dwarka on Tuesday. The actress claimed she used to violently cover her face whenever a stranger passed by.

Kangana shared on Instagram Stories, “When I was a teenager, my sister @rangoli r chandel was attacked with acid by a roadside Romeo…. She had 52 surgeries, as well as an unimaginable amount of mental and physical trauma…. We were devastated as a family…. I also had to go to therapy because I was afraid that anyone passing by would throw acid on me, so I would cover my face violently in a reflex action every time a biker, a car, or a stranger crossed me…. These atrocities have not ceased…. The government must take strong action to combat these crimes…. I concur with @gautamgambhir55. We must take stringent measures against acid attackers…”

Rangoli is now a married woman with a five-year-old son named Prithvi Raj. She often joins the actor at film events and screenings. She was 21 years old at the time of the attack and received third-degree burns. Kangana revealed that half of Rangoli’s face had been burned, one eye had lost vision, one ear had melted away, and a breast had been severely damaged.

Kangana is currently in the midst of the final schedule of her film, Emergency. She directs the film and also plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik also feature in the film. She has Tejas scheduled for release as well. Tiku Weds Sheru, her production venture, will also be released next year.
