Lady Gaga was spotted filming for ‘Joker: Folie Deux’ in a key location in New York City, made famous by Joaquin Phoenix’s titular character in Joker (2019). Gaga, who plays Harley Quinn in the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster, was spotted this week at the iconic stairs wearing no make-up.
Lady Gaga was wearing an oversized black coat and gloves as she walked down the staircase connecting Shakespeare and Anderson avenues at West 167th Street in the Bronx. In another picture, she appeared to be discussing the scene with her director, Todd Philips.
This location became famous following the 2019 film Joker, in which Joaquin Phoenix was seen dancing his way down the graffiti-adorned stairs in character. Phoenix went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film.
Several pictures and videos taken by the paparazzi went viral last week after Lady Gaga was spotted wearing her Harley Quinn statement outfit, which included a red jacket, a checkered top, and a black skirt paired with mesh black leggings. She was spotted filming scenes at Manhattan’s City Hall. A dozen extra characters were spotted on the set of the film standing on the building’s stairs during the shoot. Some even dressed up as cops.
The first trailer for the film was released two months ago on Valentine’s Day. Todd Philips took to Instagram to surprise fans with the first look at the film. The picture shows a close-up of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn holding the face of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in the cusp of her palms while the Joker smiled. The film is scheduled to be released on October 24, 2024.
