Mouni Roy attended the FIFA quarterfinals in Qatar and was ecstatic about the experience of watching football live in a stadium.
Mouni Roy was one of many Bollywood stars who cheered loudly from the stadium during the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Roy described the experience of watching a FIFA match live, which she shared with her husband, Suraj Nambiar. “It is easily one of the most memorable moments of my life,” the 37-year-old says. More than 88,000 fans chanted and cheered, the majority of whom were Argentina supporters. It was truly surreal. Qatar has done an outstanding job hosting it.”
When asked if her love for the sport dates back to her roots or if it was her husband who introduced her to the football madness, the Brahmastra actor asserts, “Yes, being Bengali means that I grew up around football. My brother and husband are both huge football fans, so I try to keep up with the big games. It’s funny, but my brother supports Real Madrid, and my husband supports Barcelona, so I’m stuck in the middle of a domestic El Clasico.”
Mouni Roy shared a couple of photos from the venue on Instagram, spreading FIFA fever. “Suraj is a massive Argentina, Barcelona, and Messi fan, so we usually watch the big games together,” Roy explained, wearing an Argentina football jersey. I’ve seen a lot of Messi highlights, and it’s truly amazing how he brings art to the game.” “Barring Messi, I’d have to say Neymar,” Mouni Roy says of her favourite football player. I admire how he plays football with such flair. I also like how Messi and he are best friends who look out for each other like family. He’s also quite stylish, which helps!”
Mouni Roy also shared one memory from the game that she will always treasure. “My most cherished memory has to be the most recent one – my husband and I watching Messi and Argentina win in the world cup quarter final game that went all the way to penalties,” Mouni says.
