Muttiah Muralitharan is one of the most recognized Sri Lankan cricketers of all time. His Test-match wicket-taking record of 800 is still unbroken. The legend has influenced many, from his unique bowling action to his lethal spins.

The producers stated that actor Madhur Mittal will play the titular role in Muttiah Muralitharan’s biography ‘800.’

On the occasion of Muralitharan’s 51st birthday, the motion poster for the upcoming film was released today. MS Sripathy will direct the sports biography, which will be produced by Movie Train Motion Pictures and Vivek Rangachari.

Fans of the Sri Lankan cricketer are ecstatic about the film and are rooting for it. The filming will take place in Sri Lanka, Chennai, Kochi, England, and Australia.

Movie Train Motion Pictures released the motion poster on their official Twitter account and wrote: “We are proud to bring you his story beyond the twists & turns across 22 yards. #HappyBirthdayMuralidaran   Presenting 800, the official biopic of #MuthiahMuralidaran starring #MadhurrMittal Directed by #MSSripathy.”

The title ‘800’ reflects the number of wickets Muralitharan took in test matches. Simply stated, he is the only bowler in history to have taken 800 Test wickets.

MS Sripathy, who previously worked as an associate for well-known filmmaker Venkat Prabhu, is making his directorial debut with this film. Madhur Mittal, who rose to international prominence with the 2009 film ‘Slumdog Millionaire,’ plays Muthiah Muralidaran.
