Prithvi Shaw strikes triple century; breaks the record of Gavaskar and Sevag

Mumbai’s Prithvi Shaw smashes a triple century in the Ranji Trophy match against Assam on Wednesday in Guwahati.

Shaw created history being the highest scorer of Mumbai team with a score of 377.  He also broke several records including the ones set by Gavaskar and VVS Laxman. Shaw became the ninth batsman to score 350-plus runs in Ranji Trophy, surpassing Swapnil Gugale, Chateshwar Pujara, VVS Laxman, Samit Gohel, MV Sridhar and Manjrekar. Over the past seven innings, Shaw has averaged 22.85 with a high score of 68. He marked his first century on Wednesday.

He broke his personal record scoring 240 runs in 283 balls on the first match against Assam. Apart from Rohit Sharma and Virendar Sehwag, Shaw is the only Indian who scored a century in T20s.  He couldn’t hit the score of 400, as he was out by lbw to Riyan Pareg, a leg spinner. Shaw is all set to play for the Delhi Capitals in this year’s Indian Premier League with his team.
