The Rishabh Shetty-directed film Kantara, which was a huge box office and critical success, may receive a sequel.
One of the all-time greatest successes of the Kannada film industry is Kantara, an action thriller written and directed by Rishabh Shetty. The film, which stars Rishabh as the title role, is without a doubt one of the most cherished Indian productions of 2022. Along with its enormous commercial success, the action thriller received overwhelmingly favourable reviews from viewers. Producer Vijay Kiragandur recently provided an extremely exciting update on Kantara’s second installment.
In a recent interview, the co-founder of Hombale Films, which funded Kantara, Vijay Kiragandur, confirmed that a sequel is planned for the Rishabh Shetty film. The blockbuster movie will either receive a prequel or a sequel, according to the producer. “Rishab is on the road. When he returns, we’ll decide whether to make a prequel or a sequel, said Vijay. He did, however, add that Kantara 2 might not be their upcoming release. “In a few months, something will be on the cards. There is no set release date for Kantara 2, but we do have plans, he added.
Kantara is nominated for an Oscar, according to Vijay Kiragandur, who also mentioned this in a recent interview. The producer said, “We have submitted our Oscar application for Kantara and are crossing our fingers as the final nominations are still pending. The blockbuster RRR from SS Rajamouli is followed by the Rishabh Shetty-directed movie as the second South Indian entry in the competition.
Kantara is based on the local ritual dance style known as Bhoota Kola and is set against the backdrop of coastal Karnataka. In the film, which also stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, Prakash Tuminad, Naveen D. Padil, and others in significant roles, Rishabh Shetty plays both Kaadubettu Shiva and his father. Vijay Kiragandur, operating under the Hombale Films banner, is the financier of Kantara.
