Rajinikanth is collaborating with Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel on his next film, tentatively titled ‘Thalaivar 170.’ Lyca Productions is behind the film, and Anirudh Ravichandran is composing the music. The shoot is expected to begin soon, with a 2024 release date for the superstar as ‘Jailer’ in the works.
On the occasion of their chairman Subaskaran’s birthday, the makers made the big announcement with a special note on social media. The announcement stated in part, “Lyca Productions is proud to announce “Superstar” Rajinikanth’s “#Thalaivar 170” film under our banner. TJ Gnanavel will direct the film, with music by “Rockstar” Anirudh and production by Subaskaran. We are also pleased to announce that the film’s production will begin soon under the direction of GKM Tamil Kumaran and will be ready for release in 2024.”
This big announcement has taken the internet by storm, as this project marks Rajinikanth’s third collaboration with Lyca Productions. They previously funded blockbuster films such as ‘Darbar’ and ‘Kaala’ of superstar. ‘ Thalaivar 170’ has already sparked interest among filmgoers, who are eager to see what the director has in store after ‘Jai Bhim.’
According to reports, ‘Thalaivar 170’ is based on a true story, and Rajinikanth will play the role of a cop. TJ Gnanavel intends to follow up his blockbuster debut film, ‘Jai Bhim,’ starring Suriya, with a powerful film with a social message.
Rajinikanth is currently working on Nelson Dilipkumar’s film ‘Jailer.’ The superstar recently completed a lengthy schedule in Jaisalmer, and the shoot is nearing completion. In Chennai, the actor is currently filming a massive action sequence. Shiva Rajkumar, a Kannada superstar, plays the main antagonist in the film, which also stars Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, Vinayakan, and others in supporting roles. Mohanlal, Malayalam superstar, makes a cameo appearance in the film. Jackie Shroff, Bollywood actor, also appears in the film. Music for the project was composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Kalanithi Maran’s popular banner, Sun Pictures, is behind ‘Jailer.’ Aside from that, the superstar is in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s directorial debut, ‘Lal Salaam.’ He appears in the film as a cameo.
