SS Rajamouli’s RRR slammed by Ratna Pathak Shah: It looks backward, while we should look forward. Ratna Pathak Shah does not appear to like SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which stars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan.

Director SS Rajamouli delivered another blockbuster in the form of his latest release, RRR, starring Jr. NTR and Ram Charan. While the magnum opus is being praised, it appears that not everyone agrees with the popular opinion. Recently, veteran Bollywood actress, Ratna Pathak Shah shared her opinion regarding the period action drama.

Speaking at a book launch, she slammed the film, claiming that while films like RRR are popular today, it is a regressive film. The actress further added that the film looks backward, although we should look forward. She was also quoted as saying that whatever we do is good because we are part of the world’s largest democracy, India, and that unless directors can see their work critically, one will have to watch films like RRR.

Meanwhile, RRR has received two Golden Globe nominations for Best Non-English Language Film and Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu. “We are very grateful to share that #RRRMovie made it to the nominations of #GoldenGlobes for the Best Picture- Non-English Language, and the Best Original Song,” the filmmakers wrote on social media.

The film tells the story of revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). The play chronicles the undocumented period before both revolutionaries went underground to fight for their countries. In addition to these two, Shriya Saran, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt play important roles in the film.

M. M. Keeravani composed the song and background score for the drama under the banner of D. V. V. Danayya. The film’s technical crew also includes cinematographer K. K. Senthil Kumar and editor A. Sreekar Prasad.
