Raveena Tandon talks about being criticized for her opinions on social media

Raveena Tandon recently shared about celebrities being chastised for speaking, or even failing to speak, about ongoing issues in the country. She stated that in both cases, it is the actors who suffer. She also described Twitter as polarized, with left and right-wing factions.

Raveena, an avid social media user, was asked about celebrities being chastised for not speaking out on issues during a podcast with ANI. “Damned if you speak, damned if you don’t,” she replied. Twitter, for example, is, in my opinion, completely polarized. It is either the right or left wing. There is nothing you can do because they have completely taken over. So, you’re either a sanghi or a Naxalite. It’s either or, there’s no middle ground left, no neutral path to take. But when it comes to my country, and when I have to speak up for it, fir mai bhi bheer jati hu (then I fight back),” she added.

Raveena then revealed the types of comments she receives on social media for speaking her mind. “I do get comments ‘Are tu toh acting hi kar tu kya janti hai’. Why? Am I not a citizen of this country? Am I not a mother who has children who will be the next generation of this country? Am I not paying my taxes, paying my dues living in this country? Am I not proud of this country? What has taken me to be an actress taken my rights away to speak about when I want to speak about my country? Who are you to tell me that? If I don’t come to your house and tell you ‘Don’t talk about this.’ who are you to come to my house and tell me ‘Don’t talk about this?”

Raveena was most recently seen in ‘KGF: Chapter 2,’ alongside Yash and Sanjay Dutt. She has ‘Ghudchadi’ with Sanjay Dutt and ‘Patna Shukla’ with Arbaaz Khan. Aside from that, she will be back with the second season of her Netflix series, ‘Aranyak.’
