Rishab Shetty has finally shed some light on the much-anticipated Kantara 2, which has been making the rounds on the grapevine for quite some time. Speaking at a Bengaluru event to commemorate Kantara’s 100-day theatrical run and massive success, Rishab discussed Kantara 2 and revealed that it will be released worldwide in 2024.
According to Rishab, what the audience saw in Kantara was actually the second part. Kantara 2 will be the origin story’s prequel, making it the first installment. He also confirmed that he has begun writing the script for Kantara 2.
“We would like to thank the audience for their overwhelming love and support for Kantara. The film has successfully completed 100 days with the blessing of almighty Daiva, and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the film’s prequel, “Rishab Shetty stated recently at an event.
Rishab further added, “What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year. While I was filming Kantara, the idea struck me. It’s because Kantara’s history is more complex. We are currently delving deeper into the details. It would be premature to reveal details about the film while research is still ongoing.”
Kantara, tells the story of a local demigod (Bhoota) who, in exchange for happiness, trades forest land to the tribe’s people with a king in 1870. Many years later, when the king’s son becomes greedy and wants the land back, he dies as a result of Bhoota’s wrath.
Rishab Shetty’s film grossed more than 400 crores worldwide. It has become the highest grossing film of all time in Karnataka. Rishab and his family recently attended the Bhoota Kola festival to celebrate the massive success of his film Kantara. The film, inspired by Panjurli Daiva’s divinity, magnificently recreated the Bhoota Kola festival, which was one of Kantara’s major highlights.
