Samantha Ruth Prabhu shares an Instagram post as she begins filming for ‘Citadel’

Samantha Ruth Prabhu will begin filming for the Indian installment of the Citadel universe. In the Prime Video series directed by Raj and DK, she will co-star with Varun Dhawan. The actress took to social media to announce that she has joined the cast of the espionage series, in which she will co-star with Varun Dhawan. AGBO, the Russo brothers’ production company, will create the series for Prime Video. Citadel is currently in production in Mumbai.

Citadel is a new web series that will be followed by an Indian adaptation of the spy series of the same name. It will be directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK and will be available on Prime Video. Varun is set to make his OTT debut with Citadel. Samantha previously collaborated with Raj and DK on ‘The Family Man 2.’

Samantha took to Instagram and captioned the picture, “The mission is on,” with a fire emoticon. “We’ve begun production on Citadel’s Indian installment.” Samantha is seen wearing a leather jacket and black pants in a different avatar. She finished the fierce look with sunglasses and left her hair down.

Previously, there were rumors that Samantha would be leaving Citadel due to her health issues. Samantha revealed last year that she had been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease myositis. Samantha’s publicist later stated that the rumors about her leaving Citadel were unfounded and untrue.

Samantha’s next film will be Shaakuntalam, which will be released in theaters on February 17. Based on Kalidasa’s acclaimed Sanskrit play Abhigyanam Shakuntalam, the film is written and directed by Gunasekhar, who also directed Rudhramadevi in 2015. Shaakuntalam is based on the epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant, as portrayed by Samantha and actor Dev Mohan. It’ll be available in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. Samantha will also appear alongside Vijay Deverakonda in the upcoming romantic drama ‘Khushi.’
