Sania Mirza reached the finals of the mixed doubles event after defeating the pairing of England’s Neal Skupski and United States’ Desirae Krawczyk in the semi-finals.
Sania got the route back into the batch after hitting a double fault on breakpoint. The Indian pair held the match on point. The pair reached the semi-finals after defeating Jelena Ostapenko and David Vega Hernandez. They had defeated Ariel Behar and Makato Ninomiya previously.
Sania had already announced that this would be her final slam and decided to go out on her own terms and play one final Major in Melbourne, before playing her last event at the WTA 1000 in Dubai.
Several prominent figures including Yuvraj Singh congratulated on her advancement to the finals of mixed doubles.
