Shahnawaz Pradhan, best known for his roles in Mirzapur and Raees, died of a heart attack, according to actor Yashpal Sharma. He was in his late fifties.
During an award ceremony yesterday evening, Pradhan complained of severe chest pain, passed out, and suffered a heart attack. He was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, but doctors were unable to resuscitate him.
Sharma, who was also present at the event, detailed the incident in an Instagram post. “I attended this program in Mumbai… Everything was going swimmingly… Hundreds of artists were present, but our beloved artist Shahnawaz suffered a heart attack shortly after receiving the award…With the help of the people, the entire program was halted, and the doctor picked him up and took him to the nearest hospital, Kokilaben, but no one could save him, and he died… “May his soul rest in peace, and strength be with his family,” Sharma wrote.
Pradhan has appeared in films such as M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Khuda Haafiz, Raees, and Phantom, as well as the web series The Family Man and Hostages and TV shows such as Krishna and 24.
Rajesh Tailang, who co-starred with Pradhan in the Prime Video series Mirzapur, paid tribute to him on Twitter. “Aakhiri salaam, Shahnawaz bhai!!! You were a wonderful person as well as a fantastic actor. Tailang wrote, “Had a great time working with you in Mirzapur #purushram #mirzapur.” Many actors, including Anup Soni and Rohitash Gour, expressed their condolences in response to Tailang’s post.
The Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) expressed their condolences on Pradhan’s death on their official Twitter account, writing that the last rites will be held today in Mazgaon at 12.30 pm.
