Shyamaprasad won Kerala’s prestigious Television Lifetime Achievement Award

Shyamaprasad, a veteran director, has received the Kerala government’s highest visual media award, the Television Lifetime Achievement Award, for his contributions to the Malayalam television sector.

Saji Cheriamn, Minister for Cultural Affairs, announced the award yesterday in recognition of his contributions to Malayalam television.

The award consisted of a Rs. 2 lakh cash prize, a citation, and a statuette. The jury observed that Shyamaprasad used all media possibilities to create quality content for Doordarshan over a ten-year period beginning in 1984. Later, he made significant contributions through private channels as well.

Shyamaprasad, a National Award-winning filmmaker, is a well-known Mollywood director. His films ‘Ritu,’ ‘Akale,’ and others are still regarded as masterpieces. Shyamaprasad has made history with some of Doordarshan’s daily soaps as well as on private channels. He is currently the President (Productions) of a popular Malayalam GEC channel.
