SS Rajamouli has achieved his first remarkable success with his film RRR. The New York Film Critics Circle awarded the director its Best Director award.
RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, has enrolled for the international awards circuit. Rajamouli won Best Director at The New York Film Critics Circle on Friday, marking the film’s first significant victory. The New York Film Critics Circle, which was founded in 1935, has critics from print, web, and television media as members. At a banquet in early January, the association will present its honours.
He surpassed the most renowned Hollywood directors to win the Best Director Award from The New York Film Critics Circle. The talented director won Best Director at the NYFCC over Steven Spielberg, Darron Aronofsky, Sarah Polley, and Gina Prince-Blythewood.
Ajay Devgn, Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and others are featured in the Telugu film RRR. RRR is a fictional story based on the lives of two Telugu liberation fighters, Alluri Seetharama Raju and Komaram Bheem, and it was released in March 2022. The film collected over Rs. 1200 crore overall.
Despite its enormous success, RRR was not chosen as India’s official Oscar 2023 entry. Therefore, under the “For your consideration” campaign, producers applied RRR to 14 categories. For the Oscars’ major categories, the producers submitted applications to the Academy. The RRR team has asked consideration in a number of categories, such as Best Picture (DVV Danayya), Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Best Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn), Best Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt), and others.
