At Wayanad, the first glass bridge in Kerala had been built; it was a small imitation of the one that had been inaugurated in China in 2016. The second glass bridge in Kerala will now be built near the Akkulam tourist village in Thiruvananthapuram, according to the state’s tourism department.
Inauguration of the Akkulam adventure tourism project’s first phase took place in November 2022. The District Tourism Promotion Council and the Vattiyoorkavu Youth Brigade Entrepreneurs’ Cooperative Society are in charge of overseeing the initiative. Akkulam offers a variety of activities, including a zip line, sky riding, the Burma Bridge, and a bamboo ladder. Another attraction is India’s first musical fire fountain.
The glass bridge, which is a component of the second phase of development, would provide tourists with an unforgettable experience. A toy train, a virtual reality area, a pet park, and a mud run are some of the additional amenities planned for the second phase.
Since receiving a new look last year, Akkulam’s popularity, according to the officials, has constantly increased. Around 1.25 lakh tourists visited the tourist town in the previous six months, bringing in more than Rs 1 crore for the local government.
