Akshay Kumar recently posted a video on Twitter for an advertisement in which he was seen walking on a digitalized version of a globe. Netizens were quick to point out that the actor was stepping on the map of India in the video and chastised him for disrespecting the country.
Akshay was seen promoting an international airline company in a video posted to his social media accounts, which had announced a global tour that would begin in March. In the video, Akshay can be seen smiling and walking around a digitally created globe. Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi, Mouni Roy, and Sonam Bajwa also appeared in the commercial video.
Some Twitter users chastised Akshay for walking on a map of India in the advertisement. “Bhai thodi toh respect kar liya karo hamare Bharat ki (Brother, please show some respect to our country.)” wrote one. Another user commented, “What a shameful and arrogant person… walking on the map of India…” “What do you hope to achieve by doing this?” said another. Respect for India.” “Seriously,” one user said. Who came up with the concept of walking on a map? No matter how much people want to distance themselves from these issues, you movie people keep making these obvious mistakes, which is why you’re getting flak.” “Had any of the Khans (Bollywood actors) rubbed the map of India with their shoes, they would have been boycotted by now,” another person said.
Akshay will next be seen in the film ‘Selfiee,’ alongside Emraan Hashmi, Nushratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty. Selfiee is directed by Raj Mehta and will be released in theaters on February 24.
